Come and visit this 105-acre natural oasis in town on the Lee Island Coast. Take a stroll through the woods of pine hammocks and cypress wetlands. Walk through the Butterfly Aviary, and visit the American bald eagles, hawks, vultures and owls in the Raptor Aviary (these are permanently injured and cannot be returned to the wild). Have a close and personal encounter with the amazing collection of both native and invasive reptiles, and explore "the bug room" for kids in the museum. Discover the prehistory and natural history of our area, and check out Al E. Gator, the 12' gator who was rescued as a young "nuisance gator" and has had his happy home in the Gator Pond there for years. Then cross the "sundial plaza" to touch a big meteorite or a piece of Mars or zoom through space in Lee County's only full-dome, full-surround planetarium. Come see why they say, "Our eyes are on the heavens, but our feats are on the ground!"
