Leaving Fido behind when you’re on vacation can be ruff, but visiting The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel means you can bring the whole pack with you, even the ones with a little extra fur. Not only are there plentiful patios and dockside eateries that throw out the welcome mat for your four-legged friend, but you’ll also find parks, preserves and beaches where your K9 companion can enjoy a little sand, sun and surf. After all, dogs deserve a getaway, too!

Dog-Friendly Beaches in Fort Myers

This beach has literally gone to the dogs. Open year-round from dawn until dusk, Dog Beach Park allows playful pups to run free and make a splash in a beautiful beach setting. Swimsuits are required, but leashes are not.

Pawsome Parks & Preserves

Your four-legged friend is sure to find our parks and green spaces to be quite fetching. More than 12 parks and preserves allow dogs on leashes, including Koreshan State Park, Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, and J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Then there’s our personal favorite – Barkingham Dog Park in Fort Myers.

Tail-Wagging Things to Do

The ever “pupular” Pet Walk occurs on the fourth Friday of every month. Held at the beautiful Butterfly Estates in Downtown Fort Myers, dogs and their owners gather at 6pm for pet-themed activities and a leisurely stroll through the grounds. Shopapawlic? Bring your pooch to Yappy Hour at the Bell Tower Shops on the second Friday of each month for doggie-themed specials from 6 to 8pm.

When it comes to dog beaches in Fort Myers and Sanibel, along with pup-friendly parks, events and activities, you’ll find plenty of pawssibilities. That way, your BFF (best furry friend) will enjoy The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel just as much as you will.
