When the winter holidays come around, the evenings are all aglow here on The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel. While holiday cheer can be seen on nearly every street, there are a few extra-bright and special events where citizens collaborate to create a glittering scene. Check out this list of spirited displays from some of our best holiday enthusiasts, then get out there and see the light shows for yourself.
Join the festivities Saturday, December 7, in downtown Cape Coral at their annual Holiday Festival of Lights. Get ready for food, shopping and kid-friendly entertainment, including a tiny tot train, bounce houses and snow slides. See live musical performances along with other entertainment from shops and restaurants. Later, around 6:30 PM, enjoy watching the grand illumination of an enormous Christmas tree as snow billows around in mystifying swirls.
On December 6, holiday cheer will literally blossom in downtown Fort Myers. At 7 PM, watch as the tree illuminates in front of the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center while enjoying holiday carols, festive treats and maybe a little snow! Join the fun in downtown Fort Myers.
Celebrate the Christmas spirit at the Annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade. Witness the magical scene of approximately 30 boats drifting by and casting a steady gleam of Christmas cheer all across the waters. The beauty and fun start floating at Salty Sam’s Marina and will pass by a number of seaside establishments such as Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, Nervous Nellie’s, Original Shrimp Dock, Bonita Bill’s and more. Don’t miss your chance to see the lights at sea in Fort Myers.
Come together in celebration of one of Gasparilla Island’s most spectacular events. Mingle with friends and family amid thousands of lights and indulge in complimentary refreshments and appetizers.Later, witness the grand finale – the lighthouse illumination.
Beginning on November 29, the historic Edison and Ford Winter Estates light up the night – and the faces of appreciative onlookers – with thousands of twinkling lights and hundreds of antique holiday decorations during Holiday Nights. Plus, enjoy live music, food and beverages, crafts, guided tours and much more on select evenings through December 30.

For the holidays, those walks are sure to be more illuminating than ever with the Luminary Holiday Stroll. Stretching from one end of Periwinkle Way to the other on Sanibel and spanning Captiva Drive and Andy Rosse Lane on Captiva, the annual holiday stroll is a beautifully lit path with merry landmarks along the way – including assorted activities, treats and more.
