Looking for something fun and different to do with your group on The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel? Hop on board the Murder Mystery Dinner Train for a scenic 3.5-hour ride, a delicious 5-course dinner and a laugh-inducing live-action murder mystery show where passengers guess “whodunit?”
An evening of good food and good times begins at Fort Myers’ Colonial Station, where you’ll board one of four dining cars on the Seminole Gulf Railway, an active freight rail line serving Southwest Florida. Seated at tables of four, you’re greeted with an appetizer, a handy clue sheet and a friendly wait staff ready to take your drink order. The show is about to begin.
As the train pulls away from Colonial Station, you can’t help but notice there are two shows going on at once: the hilarious murder mystery unfolding in the aisles of the train, but also the beautiful landscapes rolling by as you head north toward Tucker’s Grade, passing over the Caloosahatchee River. But don’t get too distracted by the gorgeous scenery; you’ve got a mystery to solve.
While you’re busy keeping track of clues, the train’s chef is preparing each course in the onboard kitchen. It’s no easy feat, as the train sways a little as it makes its way along the tracks, stopping only as the main course is served. Passengers may choose one of three enticing entrees (but we hear the prime rib is to die for). Beverages, tax and gratuity are not included in the ticket price, but there are special rates if there are 24 or more sleuths in your group.
Once the main course plates are cleared away the train starts up again to make the 20-mile trek back to Colonial Station. The action ramps up as dessert is served – with a side of justice as the passengers do their best to sniff out the murderer in their midst. Each car has a winner who gets to take home a special gift, but everybody leaves with fond memories of their evening on the Murder Mystery Dinner Train.
