Powell Creek Preserve is a 77 acre parcel located at 15601 Hart Rd in North Fort Myers. Acquired in 2003 by Lee County's Conservation 20/20 program, Powell Creek Preserve functions as a filter marsh, and provides trails for hiking, geocaching, nature study and photography. The filter marsh was constructed to improve the water quality in Powell Creek as well as downstream bodies of water.
Powell Creek Preserve contains a diversity of plant communities, capable of hosting a wide variety of wildlife. In addition to the typical array of wading birds attracted by freshwater wetlands, you might expect to see warblers, pileated woodpeckers, feral hogs, gray squirrels, rabbits and gopher tortoises.
