Pine Island Botanicals, Inc is located in Bokeelia, the north side of Pine Island in Southwest Florida. The unique climate/environment allows the growth of many tropical and sub tropical exotic fruits, leafy asian, lettuce, and mustard greens, and vegetables year round. Our 4 acre residential farm follows the principles of natural (organic) growing where there is minimal use of naturally derived pesticides. It is also the home of The Sprout Queen who specilizes in sprouts, sprouting supplies, sunflower and pea greens, and wheatgrass.
The property includes: tropical fruit and nuts trees such as avocado, papaya, mango, carambola (star fruit), macadamia, lychee, and citrus; 2 shade houses that contain our hydroponic systems; an irrigation pond filled with tilapia; and a brood of free range chickens enjoying the availbility of fresh produce in return for fertilizing and 'tilling' the soil. Also speckled throughout are collections of bromeliads, orchids, tropical plants, tropical clumping bamboos, and wildlife such as butterflies, gopher tortoises, reptiles, and birds of prey.
Farm Tours are available by appointment only on weekdays and weekends after 10 am. To help offset the time away from our daily routines a donation of $10/person is appreciated.
Purchase of fresh produce/greens/sprouts, starter plants, and soil amendments can be made at the farm. You are asked to call ahead before visiting to make sure someone is present and the items you are looking for are available. You can purchase from us otherwise by viewing the list of farmers markets or indulge at some local restaurants where Pine Island Botanicals' and The Sprout Queen's products are offered or served.
