Newton Park is the former beachfront home of Jim and Ellie Newton, who were friends with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Charles Lindbergh, who he dubbed "Uncommon Friends." There is metered parking onsite as well as outdoor showers, restrooms and easy beach access. ADA beach chairs are available for free by calling 239-463-5888. The historic cottage is available for rental and the property includes a bocce court, covered thatched huts and picnic tables. It's a great location for families with young children. The site is owned and managed by the Town of Fort Myers Beach. The Mound House provides free guided beach walks every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m.
