Amusement Parks & Other Family Fun

Family fun is never far away in Southwest Florida. While fun can always be had on the beach, amusement parks and other kid-friendly destinations are always a big hit while on vacation.

IMAG History & Science Center

When the weather isn’t so nice, this science center is the perfect option for a rainy day. Fun as well as educational, this museum has plenty of kid-friendly exhibits that aim to inspire the next generation of scientists. Learn about everything from dinosaurs to physics to biology.

Lakes Park Railroad Museum

For the train-obsessed youngster, head to the Railroad Museum of South Florida. Here, you’ll find historic train cars and hundreds of artifacts from trains through the ages. Plus, a 1/8th-scale railroad can take you through woods, lakes, a small village and other scenic locations. This beautiful park offers something for all ages. From playgrounds and gardens, to bike and boat rentals, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Salty Sam’s Pirate Cruise

If you’re looking for swashbuckling adventure, head aboard the good ship Pieces of Eight with Salty Sam’s Pirate Cruise. A 90-minute adventure on a replica Spanish galleon, you’ll take part in pirate activities like games, a mutiny and firing the cannons. If you're traveling with family and friends older than 21, try the adults-only cruise that sets sail after dark.

Refreshing Fun

Sun Splash Family Waterpark

This waterpark is a great way to beat the heat and get some quality time together at the same time. Dozens of water slides, a children’s play pool, ecological boardwalk, lazy river and sand volleyball court all make for a splashing time. Please note their season is open March-October. Be sure to check their website for hours of operation.

Shell Factory & Nature Park

This Old Florida roadside attraction has enough to keep the family busy all day long. Stroll through the expansive gift shop, dine at the outdoor restaurant, and enjoy mini-golf and other outdoor games at the fun park. Don't miss the Nature Park where you can see a wide variety of animals and even feed and pet some of them.

Add these family-friendly activities to your vacation planning to surprise the whole family. Whether indoors or outdoors, Fort Myers has everything you need and more.
