Baseball & Spring Training

Play ball in a beautiful setting.

Like many other people, the boys of summer spend their spring on The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel. The Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins hold spring training at the Lee County Sports Complex; Hammond Stadium and JetBlue Park  respectively, and bring plenty of hardcore fans with them. For a more historical experience, Terry Park Ball Field is used by many college teams and is a favorite of baseball purists everywhere.

Baseball Spring Training

"Since the 1990s, the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins have held spring training in Fort Myers."

First-rate yet intimate stadiums and a laid-back atmosphere put the teams’ loyal fans close to the action. And within a couple of hours’ drive, you’ll find several other Grapefruit League teams also enjoying Florida’s subtropical climate.

The training schedule last for the month of March, more or less, with about 25 games being played before the teams head north and the regular season starts.

Boston Red Sox Spring Training
Spring Training offers Boston Red Sox fans a chance to experience the new $78 million JetBlue Park with its state-of-the-art training facilities and room to entertain 11,000 fans. The new complex also includes six practice fields along with other adjoining facilities that house major and minor league operations, rehabilitation center, food facilities, HD video board and interactive family areas.

Additionally, JetBlue Park is in line with the county’s suitability efforts as it is LEED® Certified. Established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings.
