Suggested Steps for Planning

Form a Committee
Hosting a reunion is not a one-person job. Once the decision has been made to have a reunion, start forming your committee 12-18 months prior to the date of the reunion and meet regularly. The earlier you get started the more time you’ll have to evaluate potential sites, raise funds and inform everyone.

Define your Purpose
Determine your purpose and begin to think about an itinerary. There are many attractions in the area that can accommodate groups. Plan activities that groups can do together, but allow some free time for enjoying the destination.

Select a Location
This is best accomplished once you have dates and an approximate number of people, as well as an idea of how much you are willing to spend for accommodations. The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel has a variety of lodging choices from campgrounds to luxury resorts. Click here for accommodations information.

Budget
Establishing and maintaining a budget is one of the essential tasks of planning a reunion. It can be especially helpful to establish a separate bank account, even if your reunion is small. This will make it easier to keep track of expenditures.

Communicate
Reunion attendees need time to schedule vacation, budget for out-of-town travel and reunion fees. You should mail save-the-dates postcards or flyers as soon as possible with the dates and host city information. Keep your attendees informed regularly.
