New Edison Exhibit Focuses on Music and Movies Feel-good innovations are the focus of a new exhibit at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers.
“Music, Movies & Dance with Edison & Ford" includes displays of historic phonographs and projectors as well as unique sensory experiences. As part of the exhibit, visitors can view early Edison silent films and hear performances of period music on the Edison piano. The special exhibit joins two of the estate museum’s similarly themed permanent exhibits. “Edison and the Movies" features examples from the inventor’s collection of movie cameras, projectors, nickelodeons and similar pieces, while “Edison and His Phonograph" includes photos, records and hundreds of phonographs the estate has collected through the years. Be sure to explore all of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, which includes nine buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, a laboratory, 20 acres of botanical and research gardens and a 15,000-square-foot museum containing hundreds of Edison’s and Ford’s inventions and personal belongings.
