Celebrate Earth Day on Sanibel Island
Take a guided bike tour and enjoy other family-friendly activities April 19 at Sanibel's Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

J.N. “Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island will host Earth Day 2008 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19. The theme is Reconnect: Earth, Family, Fitness. Tarpon Bay Explorers, the refuge’s official concessions operator, will provide free bike use on-site, and trained volunteers will lead 4-mile loop bike tours of the refuge at 11 a.m. and 12:30 and 2 p.m. Wildlife Drive admission will be free to cyclists and hikers ($5 for motor vehicles). Other activities include environmental programs, kids’ nature crafts, samples of shade-grown coffee and healthy snacks. For more information, go to www.fws.gov/dingdarling.
