The Pull of Pine Island "A slice of Old Florida," Pine Island is featured on CoastalLiving.com. CoastalLiving.com recently featured the communities of Pine Island in its regular series on the allure of coastal areas across the country. “So You Want to Live in … Pine Island" describes the characteristics that make this “slice of Old Florida" appealing: “It’s a place with no traffic lights, where you can visit your neighbors by boat. Residents love the neighborliness, nature trails, and renowned fishing." Although many folks move to the island’s towns in search of peace, serenity and sunsets, the story says Nancy Glickman, the office manager at the vintage Tarpon Lodge, moved to Pineland for the stars: “When the conditions are right, the skies are some of the finest anywhere." Around the “candy-color fisherman’s shacks" in Matlacha that are home to galleries, restaurants and bars, the mood is laid-back. According to the article, “Relaxing, they say, can keep you busy here." To read the full story, go to http://www.coastalliving.com/coastal/living/communities/article/0,14587,1680247,00.html.
